CTL Provides Ideal Solutions for Educators

Tablets and Netbooks Play a Pivotal Role in Today’s Classroom

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan has stated four key priorities for the Obama administration. Every school in the country has been asked to meet the following goals:

• Adopt rigorous standards
• Train and retain high-quality teachers
• Use data systems to track student progress continually
• Turn around low-performing schools.

In order to meet these goals, many school districts are adopting what is called one-to-one computing, meaning that each student uses their own personal computing device for their class work. Nationwide, schools are using one-to-one initiatives to put computers into the hands of every student, and for good reason. The cost of printing textbooks continues to rise, while school budgets tighten. With each textbook costing an average of $100 or more, the ability to download e-books can save enough money for the student’s computing device to pay for itself.

There’s also the fact that one-to-one initiatives level the playing field for students of all income levels where previously students with computers and access to high speed internet had a clear advantage over classmates who did not. Access to educational software, the ability to research more quickly and easily, and enhanced note-taking capabilities are all advantages to computing devices in the classroom.

As schools strive for one-to-one computing, ed-tech leaders are wisely using their technology budgets to purchase tablets or netbooks to equip teachers and students. There are many benefits to these lighter mobile machines and CTL has three great models to choose from!

Stylus and handwriting recognition software are great for note taking, and Microsoft® Windows® 7 supports a variety of educational games and programs.

It even has a sensor that shuts down the hard drive to prevent damage in the event of a fall. Each PC E11 is ready to go right out of the box with Microsoft Windows 7 and educational computing software pre-installed.

Convertible Classmate PC NL2 Pro 10” Netbook
At only 3.7 pounds, this convertible model offers the versatility of a tablet and a netbook combined! The newest in the Convertible Classmate PC line, this 10” computer features a rotating screen that when flat, functions as a tablet, and when turned upwards reveals a keyboard and becomes a netbook. When functioning as a tablet, the high-resolution touchscreen is easy to control and read.
